Your "dream" music building

We are having meetings soon with an architectural firm to discuss the possibility of renovating Epworth Hall for use as a music facility. The firm is asking us, "If you had your ideal music building, what would be in it?"

I'd like to pass this question on to you - particularly music majors, but also everyone else who attends classes or rehearsals in our current rooms. What would you like to include in your ideal musical learning environment?

Any and all comments appreciated!

Funny that you ask. Some time ago several music students and I actually drew novice floor plans for a new music/ arts building. I think we would all like to see a new larger choir room with stadium levels so we could all see the conductor more clearly. Personally I would like a water cooler or at least fountains to keep our voices better lubricated. If possible it would be awesome to have a small concert hall with nice acoustics that could be used solely for music recitals and small events. For the visual arts, it would be nice to have a nice lobby that could also serve as an art gallery for senior projects and things of that nature. And Heck, while we are at it, it would be nice to have classrooms that would be conducive to learning music equipped with sound and media equipment.

Just a few suggestions....

Adding to what has been already said, it would be also good if the building includes better recording environments compared to what the choral department has to deal with already.

What, everyone doesn't want to stay in the basement/attic of the chapel? I don't understand, The best times in my college career were spent in bee infested chapel classPS-rooms-Thanks Dr. Weimer, Dr. Huneycutt and Dr. Bernhardt!!!!

PS-I'm very very jealous of all the cool things happening there!!!

MISS YOU ALL!!!

Well since there are a few floors...we should have a practice hall for choir that also can double as a large recording studio so we can always have the equipment up. Then on another floor we should have classrooms and smaller recording studios. But that’s all I got for right now.
